Snow much fun

The first big snow of the season called for some outdoor fun!  Sylvie could not wait to get outside to play in the snow and of course take a ride on her "Snow Boogie" (a lovely sled that was a Christmas gift last year from Aunt Franci and Uncle Steve).  We just happen to have the most perfect 3 year old sized sledding hill in our front yard.  The joy on Sylvie's face as Cole pulled her around on the sled then let her go down the hill was priceless!  She didn't love it when he got her going too fast and she fell off, so he had to tone it down a bit.  We haven't gotten her waterproof gloves so by the end of the adventure she was wearing Daddy's big leather gloves and somehow was still able to hold on tight.  Later in the day the neighbor kids came over and asked if Sylvie could come sledding with them across the street and of course she was game.  Such a snow bunny!  The best part might have been warming up inside with some crazy hat hair and hot cocoa!

Thanksgiving Hats

Trying to get caught up on the blogging…
During our last official week in Chicago in the TINY  apartment we were bored!  It was too cold to get Magnus outside, and being limited to such a small space for a full day can get quite rough.  So of course we hit up the Target $1 section and scored some great crafts to get us in the mood for Thanksgiving!

Sylvie is quite the serious crafter

Notice the sideways hat?  Sylvie has a strong voice in how she wants her art projects to look!

Sylvie loves taking pictures with my "big camera"  A little out of focus, but overall good work!

The finished products!

5 months

Since Magnus just turned 6 months it's probably time I post his 5 month update….OPPS!  Luckily I had been keeping notes on what went on or I would have been at a loss!  This is my CRAZY time of year with more photo shoots than I know what to do with, so I've gotten slightly behind on things like blogging, cleaning, cooking, sleeping…definitely sleeping :)

Started sitting at 4 months 1 week, pretty wobbly but definitely sitting on his own!
Grabbing toys and putting them in his mouth
Talking a lot
Smiling a lot
Finally loving tummy time
We finally got double stroller since my back couldn't take carrying the 20lb baby in the bjorn
Loving his new ride
Laughing when I tickle him, sweetest laugh ever!
Started eating cereal, not sure who was more excited Magnus or Sylvie
Rolled from back to tummy
Still waking up way too much during the night
Size 4 diapers
Around 20lbs
Wearing size 6-12 month clothes
Happy happy happy!

Loves his play gym and constantly grabs for all the toys
Handsome man

Sitting like a pro!
Trying cereal for the first time
Please note Sylvie's excitement and Mag's deep stare at the bowl of food!

New House Leaves

What a month or two it's been! We got moved into our new house in KC and are loving it!  It is quite the fixer-uper and there is TONS of work to do, but we can see the potential and are so excited to get started.  Many things in the house are very outdated or just plain weird, so it will be exciting to make it our own and watch everything come together.  So far we've had the hardwood floors on the 2nd floor refinished and what a difference it has made.  Two of the bedrooms had pretty nasty carpet and it was great to be able to get this first project finished before we moved anything in. One BIG perk to having a house again is a yard for the kids!  On Thanksgiving morning Sylvie picked out her outfit (and what an outfit it was) and was beyond thrilled to head outside with Daddy to rake/play in the leaves.  It was so fun for me to get to watch her play in her OWN yard once again!

Halloween in Chicago

So a few months ago I had the great idea that for Halloween Sylvie could be Tinkerbell (she's obsessed with Tink) and Magnus could be Peter Pan.  Sylvie was totally onboard especially when she realized she'd get to wear wings!!  Once October hit random people started asking Sylvie what she was going to be for Halloween.  Her response was always "I'm going to be Minnie and Magnus is going to be Mickey!"  What??  After she told a few people that, it was obvious the costume change needed to happen.  It turned out to be such a cute costume combo and I'm so glad my independent 3 year old spoke up.  I doubt there will be many Halloween's where Magnus will allow them to be theme matching, so I took advantage of all the photo ops I could get!

The Saturday before Halloween we went to the Lincoln Park Zoo Spooky Zoo Spectacular.  There were TONS of families there and Sylvie loved seeing all the kids in costume.  We got to see a few animals, do a few crafts, and get some candy all before Sylvie had an accident smack dab in the middle of a playhouse.  OPPSSS, she rarely has these, but she was just too excited to take time out to go potty and I of course forgot to make her.  Parenting fail.

Love the port-a-potties in the background.  Wish we would've used these!!

We got to bust out our new double stroller for the first time!  They both loved it!

Sunday was the Trick or Treat Pumpkin Party on Soutport (a big street just a couple blocks from our apt).  We grabbed Auntie Morgie and walked up to the party back in costume for the event!  They had a pumpkin patch, blow up slides, mazes, and bounce houses, and all of the shops on Southport were open for trick or treating.  Sylvie's favorite was the blow up maze and the giant slide.  While waiting in line for the slide Cole happened to spot what appeared to be a Chiefs bar.  After taking a peek in he returned to tell us it was in fact what he has been searching for...a CHIEFS BAR!  Being the amazing wife that I am, I sent him in to watch the last few minutes of the game (really stinks living in Chicago when the Chiefs are finally having a great year and we don't get to watch any of the games), while Morgie and I took Sylvie and Mag trick or treating through the shops.  It was the sweetest thing ever to hear Sylvie in her super high pitched voice say "Trick or Treat" and "Thank You".  I love that she is old enough to understand holidays now, it makes everything so much fun!!!
PS- I realize Magnus made very few of these pics.  Fact is he feel asleep in the back of the stroller and missed the entire pumpkin party!
PPS- You may notice I am in a similar outfit as the day before...ok it's the same outfit.  All of my winter clothes have already been moved back to KC so I bought just a few things to get me through our last month in Chicago and I pretty much am forced to wear the same thing everyday.  Don't judge!!

After such a busy weekend I think Sylvie was surprised when Halloween Day actually rolled around and she got to get in her beloved Minnie dress for the 3rd time.  We took her trick or treating down the street by our old apartment the actually has real houses.  She had so much fun knocking on the door, but only liked actually saying trick or treat to the women "girls" as she put it.  She can definitely be shy with strangers.  She got what she thought was a ton of candy, then it was off to the airport.  The highlight of the plane ride was getting to go trick or treating in the cock pit where the pilots loaded her up with more candy!  By the time we arrived at my mom's it was well past her bedtime and she was way too wound up and excited for Mimi and Pa to get to see her in her costume.
Such a fun Halloween!!
