Union Station Christmas

To kick off our Christmas festivities we took the kids to Union Station.  Sylvie loved all the Christmas decorations and couldn't get over how big the tree was.  She was mostly excited to ride the train so after a quick stop off at the big tree we headed to the train.  We got to the train at 5pm, the sign said they closed at 6pm, the operator told us they were closing at 5pm and were on the last ride.  Sylvie was beyond crushed, complete devastation!  The crazy mom in me wanted to start yelling that if the sign said 6pm that's when they close and they were not going to crush my baby's hopes and dreams.  However I held it together and told Sylvie maybe instead we could go to the Santa play place.  She stood there looking completely lost while another group of kids came up to learn the train was closed too.  Eventually the last ride was over and after seeing the group of kids the conductor found his Christmas spirit and waved everyone over for one last ride.  Pretty sure he saw how broken Sylvie was and couldn't say no.  They even told her, "this one's just for you sweetie".  She was so excited to be on the train I don't think her smile could've gotten any bigger!  I just love watching her face light up!  She has the best expressions and gets so beyond excited about every little thing.  She just giggled and waved every time the train went by us.  After the train ride we headed to Crown Center to see Santa.  Since it was a weekday evening I assumed the line would be short…WRONG... an hour and a half later Sylvie and Magnus got to sit on Santa's lap and Sylvie proudly told him she wanted a doll house, a baby bunk bed, and a big bunk bed.  Magnus looked quite confused as he sat on Santa's lap.  Cole swore that was the last Crown Center Santa experience, pretty sure he has said that the past 3 years.  Can't wait till next year!!
